Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about Skribl. See also the About page and the Help guide.
What is Skribl?
Skribl is a small social network for short posts. You follow people, share what's on your mind, reply in threads, and add images, GIFs or polls. The main difference from other apps is that you can edit a post after you publish it.
Can you really edit posts on Skribl?
Yes. You get a few minutes after posting to fix a typo or reword something, as long as no one has liked, replied to, or reposted it yet. Once a post has an audience it locks, so an edit can't change what people already reacted to. You can always delete a post instead.
How is Skribl different from Twitter/X and Bluesky?
Editing is the big one: Twitter makes you pay for it and Bluesky doesn't offer it, while on Skribl it's free and built in. The feeds are also clear about how posts reach you. The only ranked feed, For You, sorts on three plain things: how recent a post is, who you follow, and how much people are engaging. No ads, and you can switch to a plain chronological feed whenever you want.
How old do I have to be to use Skribl?
You must be at least 18 to create an account and use Skribl. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up to check, and any account found to belong to someone under 18 is removed.
Is Skribl free?
Yes. Skribl is free to join and use. There's an optional Premium subscription and a certified badge if you want them, but you don't need either.
How do I get an invite?
Skribl is in invite-only beta right now. If you don't have a code, request one from the waitlist on the home page and we'll email you when a spot opens up.
How do Skribl's feeds work?
Following shows the people you follow, newest first. Explore has Latest (everything, newest first) and Trending (the most-engaged posts from the last couple of days, the same for everyone). For You is the one ranked feed, sorted on recency, your network, and engagement. The Help page has the full breakdown.
Can I make my account private?
Yes. A private account approves followers and hides your posts from anyone you haven't approved. You can also choose who's allowed to message you, block or mute people, and mute words you'd rather not see.
Does Skribl have polls?
Yes. Any post can include a poll with one question and up to five answers, running for an hour, a day, or a week. Everyone can see the results, and your vote is final.
Who can see my posts?
You need a Skribl account to see anyone's posts, so they're never visible to the general public or search engines. If your account is public, any signed-in member can see your posts. If it's private, only the followers you've approved can.
How do I report something or stay safe?
Report any post or account from its menu and a moderator will take a look. You can also block, mute, and filter out muted words. Hate speech, threats, sexual harassment, and sexual content are never allowed, and child sexual abuse material is reported to the authorities and earns an immediate permanent ban — see the Terms for the full list. The Help page covers the rest.
